SRHS

Souris Regional High School, 2009.

Souris Regional School, formerly known as Souris Regional High School, is a consolidated K-12 school serving the former Souris family of Schools, spanning from East Point to Dundas, and including the town of Souris. It is located on Longworth Avenue in Souris.

The school is administratively part of the Eastern School District, and the current principal is Mrs. Sharon MacIntosh. The school's mascot is the Souris Spartans, and the school colours are maroon and gold.

History[]

Souris Regional High School was built between 1954-55[1], with a major renovation in the 1980s leaving the school in the form pictured here. Construction on the original version of the high school was begun in the fall of 1954, and was officially opened on October 15 1955.

A newspaper clipping (presumably from The Guardian), explains that lighting facilities for the 1955 school were supplied by the Morell Co-op, pump and pump room equipment were supplied by MacLeod and Greene of Montague, and the bulk of the building materials (except for the steelwork) were supplied by Matthew and MacLean Ltd. of Souris[2].

The school underwent another major change, beginning in 2013, wherein the school was drastically overhauled to amalgamate the population of Souris Consolidated School into the building. An entirely new elementary/middle school wing was added, as was a new gymnasium, culinary area, cafeteria, and MVR/shop spaces.
