Ira Young was born in 1903 and raised in Basin Head, Prince Edward Island. He too raised his family in Basin Head. The Young family homestead was situated at what is now called Young's Hill road. He spent his life working as a farmer. 

BiographyEdit

Ira was the son of Charlie Young and Margaret Stewart. He was raised in a family of eight children, himself included. His siblings were Washington (Washie), Major, Arthur, Frank, Blanche, Cora, and Emily. He married Elva L. MacDonald on May 19 1930 in Charlottetown by Reverend Dr. Vincent and together they had six children, Blanche, Margaret , Shirley, Howard, Clinton, and Charlotte (Dollie).

He is noted as being a labourer on the Basin Head dredging project of 1937, in which the Basin Head waterway was dredged to allow for fishing (Basin Head Beach).

Ira died June 1 1982 in Souris, and is buried in Kingsboro in the Baptist Cemetery.
